Xerox printer error codes
Every code below opens a full page: what Xerox documents the code to mean, what to check before acting on it, what to do if it returns, and a link to the Xerox document it was verified against.
9 of 9 catalogued Xerox codes published. The rest stay unpublished until their documentation has been read.
- 010-317"Fuser Error, Reseat Fuser, Restart Printer." Xerox's documented steps are to confirm a genuine Xerox toner cartridge is fitted, then reseat the fuser. Reseating means removing and refitting a component that runs hot in normal use, so let the machine cool before opening it.
- 010-330Fuser motor failure. Xerox's documented response is to power the machine off and on (a partial or full reset), and to replace the cleaning cartridge (fuser web). The 010 prefix is Xerox's fuser subsystem, so a code in this range points at the hot section of the machine rather than the paper path.
- 016-757Print job failed because Xerox Standard Accounting (Auditron) rejected it — a missing or incorrect Accounting/User ID — not a generic secure-print authentication failure.
- 077-101"Registration Sensor Jam" (Regi Sensor Off Jam) — the registration sensor failed to turn off within the expected time after the registration clutch engaged, typically caused by worn/contaminated rollers, drive gear wear, or out-of-spec paper.
- 077-900"Registration Sensor Static Jam" — paper is detected stuck at/near the registration sensor; resolution requires manually clearing jammed paper from the specified location (e.g. Left Door A / rear cover) rather than a generic jam.
- 077-902Jam in the device — an IOT static jam, reported alongside 077-900 and 077-912 in the same fault. Xerox's documented action is to clear all jams at Door A. The article names unsupported media, incorrect paper settings, improper loading, and environmental conditions as the common causes, so a jam that keeps returning is usually a paper problem rather than a broken part.
- 077-912Jam in the device — an IOT static jam, reported alongside 077-900 and 077-902 in the same fault. Xerox's documented action is to clear all jams at Door A, then contact support if the jam persists. The 077 prefix is Xerox's paper-feed subsystem.
- 093-930"Replace Yellow Cartridge." Xerox documents three steps in order: remove the yellow toner cartridge and gently shake it six times before reinstalling it, power the printer off for ten seconds and back on, and only then replace the cartridge. The shake step is there because the code can fire while usable toner remains, unevenly distributed.
- 093-933"Replace Toner Cartridge — Toner Empty." Xerox's documented steps are to make sure a genuine Xerox toner cartridge is being used, then replace the cartridge. The 093 prefix is Xerox's toner and xerographics subsystem.
