• 8.01"Close all doors." A door, cover, or the multipurpose feeder is not fully latched. Lexmark treats an unlatched door as a stop condition because the paper path and the high-voltage sections are only isolated when everything is shut.
• 80.xxThe maintenance kit life ladder: 80.0x nearly low, 80.1x low, 80.2x very low, and 80.31 "replace maintenance kit, recommended life exceeded". Like the other ladders this is a page counter reaching a threshold, not a detected failure — the machine keeps printing until the final stage and often past it.
• 82.xxThe waste toner bottle ladder on colour machines: 82.0x "nearly full", 82.1x/82.2x "almost full", then 82.3x/82.4x "replace waste toner bottle". The bottle collects toner cleaned off the belt and drums, so it fills as a function of pages printed and cannot be emptied and reused.
• 84.xxThe imaging unit or imaging kit life ladder — the drum, not the toner. It escalates the same way as the cartridge ladder: 84.0x nearly low, 84.1x low, 84.2x very low, then 84.3x/84.4x replace, at which point the guide states the recommended life has been exceeded. Confusing this with 88.xx means buying the wrong part.
• 200.xxIndicates the printer registered one or more sheets as jammed under the toner cartridge, not specifically 'at the front of the printer.' If no physical jam is found despite repeated occurrences, a jam sensor may be malfunctioning and require service.
• 31.xxA supply is missing or is not answering the printer, so Lexmark asks you to reinstall it rather than replace it. The second pair of digits names which one: 31.40-31.43 a toner cartridge by colour, 31.60 the black imaging unit, 31.64 the colour imaging kit, 31.35 the waste toner bottle, 31.80 the fuser, and 31.30 the transfer module (which asks for a restart instead). Reseating usually clears it; dirty contacts are the common cause.
