Canon printer setup

How to set up a Canon printer

Start Easy Wireless Connect on the Canon printer, then run Canon's official setup file on a computer connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to use.

What you need

  • The exact Canon model number
  • The Wi-Fi network name and password
  • A Windows PC connected to that network

Connect your Canon printer to Wi-Fi

  1. 1

Confirm the model and prepare the network

Turn on the printer and router, and connect the Windows PC to the Wi-Fi network the printer should use. Keep the model number available because control-panel actions vary by model.

    Start Easy Wireless Connect

Use the printer's Wireless connect button or its LAN settings and Wi-Fi setup menus to start Easy Wireless Connect. Follow the official page for the exact model; do not copy a button sequence from a different Canon printer.

    Connect the printer

When the installer finds the printer, confirm the wireless-router connection and wait while it transfers the network settings. Make sure the PC reconnects to the intended Wi-Fi network if detection fails.

    Install the driver and test

Let the installer download the current driver and register the printer. Use Test Print when offered, or print a one-page document after setup closes.

How to confirm it worked

Canon's installer reports that the connection is complete, the printer appears in the computer's printer list, and it completes a test print.
