How to connect a printer to a Chromebook
Connect the Chromebook and printer to the same network, press Ctrl+P, choose the printer under Destination, and save it in ChromeOS printer settings for later use.
What you need
- A printer compatible with ChromeOS
- The Chromebook and wireless printer connected to the same network, or a compatible USB cable
- Permission from an administrator if the Chromebook is managed by a school or workplace

Confirm printer compatibility
Check the printer manufacturer's ChromeOS support information or Google's compatible-printer resources. A printer appearing in a list does not guarantee compatibility until ChromeOS completes its check.

Connect to the same network
Turn on the printer and connect it to the network. Sign in to the Chromebook and connect it to the same network. ChromeOS does not currently support Bluetooth printing.

Select the printer
Open a page, image, or document and press Ctrl+P. Next to Destination, open the list, choose See more, then select the printer after ChromeOS completes its compatibility check.

Save the printer
Select the time, open Settings, find Printers and scanners under Device, then choose Print. Under Other available printers, select Save next to the printer and confirm it appears under Your saved printers.

Use USB when appropriate
For a compatible USB printer, connect the cable directly to the Chromebook and follow the notification prompts. Bluetooth is not an alternative printing connection on ChromeOS.

Run a one-page test
Return to the print dialog, choose the saved printer, and print one page. Confirm the job reaches the intended printer before setup is considered complete.
